整体设计思路
本单元主要学习序数词的构成以及运用序数词表示日期的方法；学会运用when引导的特殊疑问句询问日期；本单元围绕“谈论生日”这一话题，设计了三个任务型活动：任务一是：数字游戏，学习序数词的使用；任务二是：建立班级生日册，学习日期的表示方法；任务三是：制作个人日历，巩固日期的表达和序数词的使用。通过这三个任务型的活动使学生掌握日期询问和回答。

l Vocabulary: January---December, 1st--- 31st.Sentence structure:When is your birthday? /My birthday is onGrammar: the expression of dates.
l To develop the students’ abilities of listening, speaking. Students can skillfully use the structure “When is your birthday" and know the relevant answers.

Lead in
l Sing the song “Happy birthday” together.
l (Play the flash of this song. )
l Show the words of the song on the screen . And color the word birthday.

By using the flash can arouse the students’ interest.
Pre-listening
l Play the recording for the second time. At the beginning, the teacher sets the samples for the students. And then help them learn to say “When is your birthday?”
In this activity, we should provide listening and speaking practice with the months of the year.
While-listening
1.Help the students to find out how to express the date.
2.Teach the ordinal numbers. First give the chart of the contrast of cardinal and ordinal numbers .
3.Based on the students’ discussion, sum up as a pithy formula.
基数变序数，规则记心间，

细小变化要注意，八少t, 九去e,
five, twelve两兄弟，f来把ve替；
几十基数变序数，变y为i加eth;
几十几变序数，几十不变只变几.
7. Play the recording of 2a.
Check the answer as a whole.
8.Play the recording of 2b, lead the students to finish filling the chart.

Post-listening
Design a task. Have the students work in pairs and exchange the date of birth of themselves and their family members.
Give students a task --- use their school ID cards to exchange personal information.
Game: Try to find out who is the oldest and who is the youngest.
By cooperation practice, Ss can practice the target language in real situations.
Consolidate the target language.
Assignments
Interview their parents or other relatives and try to find their date of birth and give a report on the interview.
