Jane’s travel in Malaysia.

整体设计思路

This reading article is a diary about Janes vacation in Malaysia on July 15th and 16th. In her diary, she used the simple past tense to describe something that happened in the past. She wrote down the time, the place, the activities and her feelings... It was a good example for diary writing. At the beginning of this class, T will play a song to arouse Ss’ interest and introduce the country- Malaysia to the Ss.  Then with several reading tasks, students know how to write a travel diary. So students write down their own travel diary. After writing, students change their dairies and do a check. By the end of this class, Ss will be able to write a travel diary.

学生分析

Students in Grade 8 are more independent than before. Not only they hope that they can be treated as adults and want to be recognized by others but also have their own secrets. It is a good time for them to talk about their vacation and write down this unforgettable experience. At the same time, different students have their own way for learning, their difference will be enlarged. Teachers should arouse students interests and pay attention to the hierarchical teaching for the students.

教学目标

By the end of this class, Ss will be able to:

1. Master some new words and phrases.   

2. Be familiar with the past tense of verbs.  

3.Know more about city of Malaysia.

4. Master how to write a travel diary and have a positive attitude towards life.

教学重难点

1.Improve Ss’ ability of language generalization with the help of the tree map;

2. Guide Ss to write a travel diary in simple past tense.

Leading in

Greeting with Ss and play a beautiful song

Get ready for class.

Arouse Ss interesting and make them prepare for the class.

Warming-up

Introduce Malaysia by video and pictures.

Watch video and pictures about Malaysia

Knew some new words and have some background information about the article.

Pre-reading

Give questions and ask Ss to make a prediction.

Make a prediction by some T/F questions.

It can motivate Ss to read the article and prediction is a good reading strategy.  

While-reading

1. Give right answers for  prediction questions.

2. Ask Ss to make a table

3. Ask Ss to diary 2 fast to find key sentence.

4. Ask Ss read diary 2 carefully to answer some questions.

5. Make a conclusion about the article and do some emotional education.

1. After different exploring about the article, Ss knew what will be written in a travel diary.

Post-reading

1.Ask students to talk about their most memorable vacation.

2.Give an example writing article. 3.Ask one students to share his diary and do the check.

1.Pair work to discuss their most memorable vacation with some example sentence.

2.Ss write their travel diary.

3.Students change their writing and check by the rules.

1.Ss get ready for writing by talking.

2.Ss can improve their writing ability in recording their life by a travel diary.

3.Others-editing is important for Ss to realize some mistakes and they will improve by rectifying them.

Homework

Provide required and optional choice

Revise their travel diary and chose to do a travel-guide.

This based on the extension and expansion of what Ss have learned.

教学反思

Ss are interested in go on vacation and share their own experience, so T should lead them record some experience by writing. How to design teaching procedures to elicit Ss to make a conclusion from a article and use the conclusion for writing are the point that I need to think about.
