整体设计思路

This reading article is about turkey, a traditional food which is not familiar to the Ss from Grade 8 who have learned English for several years and still have a strong desire to know more. At the beginning of this class, T will arouse Ss’ interest to read some pictures. Then with several reading tasks,T will guide Ss to know more about thanksgiving. This is to help them to understand the key point “celebrate” in American traditional culture. By the end of this class, Ss will be able to complete a mind map about Mid-Autumn Festival with the knowledge learned in this reading.

By the end of this class, Ss will be able to:

1. predict and obtain information about Thanksgiving Day;

2. learn about the origin of Thanksgiving and how to prepare a Turkey ;

3. Let the students know the background information of Thanksgiving Day and at the same time arouse the students to know more about the traditional Chinese culture.

Background knowledge of Thanksgiving, such as what ,when,where,why and how.

1. Write a short passage to introduce the your favorite Chinese traditional food.

2. Collect sayings and stories about your favorite festival.
