整体设计思路

This reading article is about Thanksgiving, a traditional festival in North America which is similar to the Mid-autumn festival in China. Students from 8 grade are curious about the unknown and the outside, which want learn more about the festival. At the beginning of this class, T will arouse Ss’ interest to from the traditional festivals and traditional food in China to lead into the Thanksgiving. Then with several reading tasks,T will guide Ss to find the information and way to make a turkey dinner. By the end of this class, Ss will share how to make a fruit salad with the pattern ‘first, next, then, finally’.

By the end of this class, Ss will be able to:

1. know the background information of Thanksgiving

2. learn the reason why Thanksgiving Day is so important ad how people celebrate it

3.learn about the similarities and differences of festival between different cultures by comparison the traditional festival in America an China.

1.Discuss in groups to find the similarities and differences between the Mid-autumn Festival and Thanksgiving Day

3. Show a video of making fruit salad and ask Ss totalk about how to make fruit salad. Then, show pictures and present how to make fruit salad with ‘first , second...’ pattern.

教学反思

Ss are interested in festivals of foreign countries and are willing to know more information like background and time about it. However, the cultural significance of Thanksgiving in the heart of American is a little strange to them and the procedure of making food is much more unknown to them. How to design the teaching procedure to elicit Ss to express how to introduce our festivals to other countries people and share the procedures of making food is the point that I need to think about.
