整体设计思路

This class is a listening-speaking class. Besides, this is a introduction to the unit. It can help Ss generally understand the main content of this unit and they could learn the simple past tense. At the beginning, through some simple games, teacher will arose Ss interest in talking about their vacation. Then, Ss will do the listening practice on textbooks. Teacher design different activities to guide Ss apply these to their own lives. Finally, there is a reading activity in that all listening activities would bore Ss. The game at the end is also interesting.

教学目标

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1. learn some useful words and expressions: anyone, anywhere, wonderful, quite a few, most, something, nothing, everyone, of course, myself, yourself,

—Where did you go on vacation?

—I went to the mountains.

2. communicate with others about their holiday vacation, using the simple past tense; and improve their listening and oral speaking ability;

3. enjoy themselves in their vacation.

教学重难点

1. Let students learn some the expressions about the simple past tense,.

2. Improve students ability about talking about the past events.

Warming-up Games

Show some pictures about places on PPT.

Ss guess where it is.

Let Ss know some places.

Lead-in

1. Show more pictures about other’s holiday. And ask Ss where did they do?

2. Free talk: Where did you go on vacation?

1. Ss answer the questions.

2. Ss talk with partner.

Trough others vacation, Ss can briefly talk their vacation.

Presentation

1. Show some pictures on the big screen.

2. Focus attention on the picture. Ask: What can you see?

3. Match each phrase with one of the pictures next to the name of the activity.

4. Check the answer.

1. Ss read the expressions.

2. Ss do the match.

3. Ss present their answers.

This activity can help Ss have a basic information about their vacation. It would help them in activity 1b.

Listening 1

1. Point to the picture on the screen.

Say: Look at the picture A. Where did Tina go on vacation? She went to mountains.

Ask: What did the person do in each picture?

2. Play the recording the first time.

3. Play the recording a second time.  

4. Check the answers.

Ss listen to the recording and answer the question.

This is a simple listening activity.

Games

Activity: Can you still remember what they did?

Ss look the picture and recall what they did in vacation.

This activity can test Ss memory.

Pair work

1. Point out the sample conversation. Ask two Ss to read the conversation to the class.

2. Ss work in pairs.

3. Let some pairs act out their conversations.

4. Teacher can give Ss help.

Ss do the pair work.

Let Ss continue to talk with their patener more details about vacation. This also improves Ss speaking ability.

Listening 2

1. Tell Ss they will hear a conversation about three students’ conversations. Listen for the first time and fill in the chart. Then listen again and check Yes, or No.

2. Give Ss several minutes to read information in 2a and 2b. 

3. Play the recording the first time.

4. Play the recording a second time.

5. Check the answers with the Ss.

6. Introduce some background information about Central Park to students.

1. Ss read the material first.

2. Ss listen to the recoriding and do the exercises.

This activity is a further listening practice. It may be difficult for some Ss. Teacher should help Ss. The introduction of Central Park can cultivate Ss cultural awareness.

Reading

1. Show Ss Lindas vacation.

2. Present some judgments about Lindas vacation. Some information are replaced by pictures. Let Ss decide whether it is true or false.

1. Ss read the passage first.

2. Ss do the exercise.

This is an additional exercise to improve Ss reading ability. And the form can be accepted by Ss.

Guessing Game

Show some pictures. Notice these pictures are partly covered. Ask students to guess what they did. Provide information when necessary.

Ss do the game according to the clue.

This activity can help Ss recall what they learned this class. Besides, at the end of the class, interesting activity would help Ss relax.

Homework

Do a survey: Ask your classmates about their vacation. And make a list. Report before the class next time.

 

This can improve Ss writing ability.
