整体设计思路

This reading article is about students' free time activities. It's a survey report about the frequency of students' free time activities which includes exercise, the Internet and watching TV. And there is different percent in different parts. At the beginning of this class, T will arouse Ss’ interest to get the main idea of the passage. Then with several reading tasks, T will guide Ss to turn the frequency of students' free time activities into form and chart and get some detailed information from the passage which is to build a basis for making them realize the importance of having a good activity. By the end of this class, Ss will be able to do a survey in the group and write a commemt.

By the end of this class, Ss will be able to:

1.Summarize each paragraph and the whole passage.

2.Transform information of passage into charts.

3.Have awareness of developing a good habit to relax themselves in a spare time.

Grouping

Divide students into

groups of six.

1. T greets with Ss and lead in the topic.

 2.T guild students to have brainstorm about free time activities and ask them their frequency of doing it.

Ss try to think out some free time activities and speak how often they do.

Make them interested in the topic and review the expression of frequency.

Let Ss look through the title and predict what this passage will talk about.

 

Ss predict the main idea of the passage through title.

While-reading

1st reading:

Ask students to read the article and get the main idea of the passage.And divide it into 3 parts, and catch gist of each part.

 

 

Ss read the article carefully and try to get the main idea of each paragraph..

Through scanning, develop Ss summary ability. And help them master the structure of the article.

 

 

 

 

While-reading

2nd reading:

1. T ask Ss to read Para 1, and find activities of the passage and circle the frequency words.

2.T guides Ss to scan Para. 2 and complete the first pie. Then read Para.3 and complete the pie and exchange the information.

What percent of the students use the Internet every day?
How often do most students watch TV?
What do they usually watch?

4.T asks Ss to read Para. 5 and leads Ss to think more to answer the following questions. 
Do you think the students at No. 5 are healthy?
 Why or why not?
What does the writer think is the best way to relax?

 Why?

2.Ss read the Para1 and para2 and finish the pie in 2b. And exchange information with their partners.

3.Ss try to look at the pie and the article to answer the questions.

4. Ss look at the results and make  comments
