整体设计思路
This reading article is about robot, which is familiar with Ss from grade 8 who have learned English for several years and still have a strong desire to learn better. At the beginning of this class, T will arouse Ss’ interest to find out information from the text about robot based on the facts they have known. Then with several reading tasks, T will guide Ss to explore whether it will be possible for a robot to do the same things as a person. This is to help them to improve their ability of thinking and imagination By the end of this class, Ss will be able to describe robot with the knowledge learned in this reading.
教学目标
By the end of this class, Ss will be able to:
1. predict and obtain information about robot’s usage and development;
2. explore what will happen to the robot in the future;
3. be aware of that everything is possible in the future.
教学重难点
1. Improve Ss’ ability of language generalization with the help of the mind map;
2. Guide Ss to debate whether it will be possible for a robot to do the same things as a person.
3. Guide Ss to imagine what else robots will do and how they will look like.

By enjoying the video and picture, Ss can have a visual impression and arouse their interest.
By brainstorm, Ss’ current knowledge about robots can be motivated.
While-reading
First reading:
1. Predict the topic of the passage
2. Tell Ss how to skimming
3. Show the passage to the students in disordered order.
4. Show Ss the first sentence and predict what the paragraph will talk about.
By reading the first time, Ss can know about skimming and use it to seize the main idea of a passage and of each paraphrase.
By using the mind map, Ss can know the main idea of the passage better.
Qs:
1. What are robots like in the movies?
2. What can robots do today?
3. Will robots think like humans in the future?
4. What will robots be like in the future?
Careful reading:
1. Read paragraph 1 and answer question.
2. Read paragraph 2 and complete the sentenced about what robots can do now.
3. Read paragraph 3 and think.
4. Read paragraph 4 and decide true or false, and answer question.
By careful reading, Ss can improve their ability to find out the detailed information.

2. What’s your idea? Why?
3. What is the writer’s point of view?
Post-reading
1. Match the phrases with its meaning.
2. Retell the article according the mind map.
3. Discuss with your partners that if you have a robot, what it will look like and what he will do.
4. Show some picture to inspire Ss.
This helps to cultivate Ss' imagination ability.
This can helps to support some material for Ss’ writing.
This helps Ss to consolidation the content of the passage and improve their ability to summarize.

1. Write a composition about the robots you design and imagine your intelligent life.
2. Brainstorm the function and the shapes of robots.

Ss are interested in robots and have lots of imformation about robots,but Ss don’t have further thought about it. How to design teaching procedures to elicit Ss to improve their imagine and critical ability is the point that I need to think about.
