整体设计思路

This reading article is about the activities that students do in their free time, which is familiar to the Ss from Grade 8 who have learned English for several years and still have a strong desire to learn better. At the beginning of this class, T will arouse Ss’ interest to find out information from the text about the activities that No.5 high school students do in their free time. Then with several reading tasks, T will guide Ss to explore the most popular free time activities. This is to help them to understand the healthy way to relax. By the end of this class, Ss will be able to relax by a healthier way with the knowledge learned in this reading.

教学目标

By the end of this class, Ss will be able to:

1. predict and obtain the results about the survey;

2. know about the students main daily entertainment and free time activities;

3. criticize and question the authors views on the basis of understanding this reading and reflect and optimize the frequency of their own free time activities.

教学重难点

1. Improve Ss’ ability of language generalization with the help of the mind map;

2. Guide Ss to analyze the result and the authors views of this survey and lead Ss to build a healthy entertainment system.

1. Elicit Ss to find the frequency and percentage of each activity.

2. Elicit Ss to discuss if their life style is healthy and why?

1. Read carefully and circle the key words.

2. Discuss in groups about that if the No.5 high school students live a healthy life and why?

1. These help Ss to know the article better and understand the importance of good entertainment activities.

3rd reading:

1. Find out the authors comment on this survey.

2. Have Ss discuss how do they think of the authors point of view.
