整体设计思路

This reading material is about pandas, our national treasure, which are familiar to the Ss from Grade 8, who own some basic information about pandas and have a strong desire to learn deeply about that. At the beginning, T will make Ss recall the related information and arouse their interests to find out more from the text. Then through several reading tasks, Ss will be aware of the dangers pandas are facing and discuss what children can do to help them. By the end of the class, Ss will be able to write a proposal to call on people to protect pandas and have a better understanding of the role pandas play in connecting China and the rest of the world. This kind of awareness will range from pandas to other wildlife.

 

 

 

 

教学目标

By the end of the class, Ss will be able to:

1. Understand the passage and obtain some specific information about pandas;

2. find out the reasons why they are endangered and figure out more ways to protect them;

3. develop a stronger sense of responsibility to protect wildlife.

1. Lead Ss to scan the reading material and find specific information quickly and precisely.

2. Guild Ss to realize the importance of protecting pandas and write a proposal by means of the structure.

1. Teach Ss a scanning skill and elicit them to read the passage carefully and find out specific facts.

1. These help Ss to enrich and improve their reading skills (pay more attention to numbers).

2. Elicit Ss to find out the answer from passage and discuss their answers with partners.

3. Ask Ss to show their answers.

1. Show some latest information about pandas.

This part aims to help Ss have a better understanding of pandas’ importance, and the role they play in the world.

1. Provide and explain the structure of proposal.

2. Present some usages and pictures as tips.

3. Encourage Ss to write a proposal (contains 4-5 sentences) and make a speech.

1. These make Ss learn how to write a proposal, and improve Ss’ writing ability.

教学反思

Ss are familiar with the character (pandas) of the reading material, and are very interested in the topic (How to protect pandas?), but they are unfamiliar with proposal writing. So it’s necessary for me to spare a bit more time in the writing part, list some example sentences maybe a good choice.

The link between while-reading and post-reading is a little abrupt, Ss may find it hard to follow the pace or get the logic. How to design and add cohesive device is the point I need to consider.
