通过2c，培养学生构建Mind map 的阅读策略，增强学生的思维能力、提升注意力和记忆力、启发联想力和创造力。

关注濒危动物，培养学生的动物保护意识和人文素养。

教学重点

 对学生进行阅读技能的培养。

教学难点

 让学生把关于动物喜好原因的口语化表达转化为描述性的语言，完成笔头输出。

I. 复习

热身

1. Revise 1b.

  Ask: What animals does Mary like?

      What animals does Tony like?

 Say: Elephants and pandas are in great danger.

2. Discuss in groups .

  What other animals are in great danger?

3. 2a Check the animals you think are in great danger.

Sample answers: The endangered animals are elephants, pandas and   tigers.

4. Introduce Thai Elephant and teach some new words:

symbol,   flag, place, water, cut   down, trees, ivory…

II. 阅读训练

1. 速读：

1）Ask Ss to look at the four   titles in 2b.

2) Ask Ss to   read the article to choose the   best title.

Answers: Let’s   save the Elephants.

2. 细读：

2c  Read the article again and   complete the mind map.

1) Get the Ss   to read the article and complete the mind map by themselves.

2) Discuss   their answers in groups.

Answer:

Importance   in Thailand: a white elephant on it, good luck

Abilities: soccer or music, draw well,   remember

Facts and figures: cut down, ivory, about   3,000 in Thailand, 100,000

How to save them: trees, buy, March 13th
