整体设计思路

The reading article is a fairy story which is familiar to the Ss from Grade 8 who have learned English for several years and still have a strong desire to learn better. At the beginning of this class, T will arouse Ss’ interest through introducing the plight of the two main characters to find what will happen in Hansel and Gretel.Then T will guide Ss to know the whole plot with several reading tasks, and to find the keys words and make a summary in one sentence of each scene. By the end of the class, Ss will be able to retell the story with the support of key words.

 

 

 

 

教学目标

By the end of this class students will be able to:

1. master the meaning and usage of the major words;

2. know well about the play and retell the plot with the support of the key words;

3. analyze the characters’ traits through their words and behavior.

 

教学重难点

1. Improve Ss’ ability of expression through the retelling of the play;

2. Guide Ss to find its key words and make a summary of each scene.

Leading in

Quest Ss about fairy tales, and show Ss some movie pictures which is familiar to them

Answer the question.

Arouse Ss’ interest and create active class atmosphere.


 

Pre-reading

a) Present the major words of the play with the pictures and examples

b) Let Ss read the words and examples together.

Read the words and examples.

a) These help to give a first impression of the major words so that Ss can memory these words better.

b) These pave the way for play reading through presenting the major words.

 

While-reading

1st reading:

a) Elicit one student to read the background of the play and let Ss predict what will  happen next.

b) Give Ss 5 minutes to go through the whole play then order the pictures in ppt.

c) Give the tips of reading a play, emphasize the importance of key words.

a) Read the background of the play and predict the story.

b) Go through the play then order the pictures in ppt.

c) These help Ss to have a general idea of the play.

d)  improve Ss’ ability of imagination and memory.

e) Prepare the for the second reading through introducing the tips of reading a play.       

 

 

While-reading

2nd reading:

a) Elicit Ss to answer or discuss the questions after the second reading of each scene.

a) Answer and discuss the questions after the second reading.

b) Find the key words and make a summary of each scene.

a) These help Ss be familiar with the details of the play.

b) These improve Ss’ ability of fetching information and making a summary.


 

 

b) Guide Ss to find the key words of some  front scenes, and then elicit Ss find the key words by themselves.

c) Encourage volunteers to make a summary in one sentence of each scene and then give the T’s answer.

 

c)These questions train Ss’ thinking ability and draw on Ss’ imagination.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Post-reading

(Summary)

Group working: Divide Ss into seven groups to discuss how to retell one scene in own words with the support  of key words. And invite 4-5groups to present their retelling.

Let Ss complete the exercise in page 48.

Group working:

Discuss how to retell the story with the support of key words and  complete the exercise.         

a) These practice their cooperative learning skills.

b) These contribute to the deeply memorizing the play.

c) These help Ss to learn how to retell the story.

 

 

 

Homework

Give some ideas about what will happen later and let Ss continue writing the story.

 

This based on the extension and expansion of what   students have learned.

教学反思

Ss are interested in fairy tale topics and it is easy for them to understand a fairy tale. But to retell a story and make a summary is still a challenge to them.How to design teaching procedures to introduce the key words and teach Ss to apply them on retelling the play is the point that I need to think about.
