Read and answer the following questions:
1 What are Miss Wang and her students talking about?
2 How many people died in the Yushu earthquake?
3 Should we run out of the door when the earthquake is coming?
【重难点句子】:
(1) It was a level 7.1 earthquake. 这是一场7.1级的地震。
7.1 读作 seven point one。
(2)I was very sad when I got the news.
= When I got the news, I was sad.
“when"引导时间状语从句时,译为“当……的时候”,其所引导的从句的动作可以是延续性的或短暂行的,可表示和主句的动作同时发生,或发生在主句动作之前或之后。
e.g. I’ll call you when I get there. 我一到那里就给你打电话。
(3) Do you know how to protect yourselves from the earthquake?
protect…from…= protect…against…表示“保护……不受……,挡住,防御”。 from后接能带来伤害或损害之物。
例句: We wear sunglasses to protect our eye from the sun.
我们戴太阳镜来保护我们的眼睛不受阳光的伤害。
(4) I think we should run out of the door.我认为我们应该跑出门。
out of…“从……里出来,没有,缺乏”等。如:
Run out of the room.从房间里跑出来。
(5) stay/keep calm = stay/keep cool 保持冷静。
calm down 冷静下来。
