Teaching and learning steps
Step 1: Learn to read the words on P95-96.
1. Students manage to read the words using the phonetics by themselves and mark the difficult words.
2. Especially Read the difficult words in groups.
3. Get one or two middle-level students to read all the words. Ask the good students to correct the wrong pronunciations. If necessary, the teacher corrects them.
4. Read after the tape.
5. Read aloud and the teacher walks around to see whether students have any questions.

Step 3: Consolidate the words.
1. Give the students a few minutes to try to memorize the words first. Then get them to work in pairs to spell the words or write down the words with the Chinese given. Underline the words they haven’t grasped.
2. The teacher can also give some important words and get the students to try to have a short dictation. Check the answers in pairs and correct the mistakes.
(设计意图:此环节为巩固单词。 这一环节有少部分的学生往往不达标,需要利用自习课或课余的时间让小组长跟踪检查,尽量能让全部学生顺利过关。)
Step 4: Read the story and translate into Chinese.
1. Ask the students to read the story, and underline the new words.
2. Translate the story into Chinese in groups of three.
3. Read the story fluently by themselves.

Step 5 Mind map.

2. Get the students to retell the article using the mind maps.

本节课亮点:
